Old Fashioned
Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 teaspoon water
- 2 ounces bourbon
- Garnish: orange peel
Steps
- Add the sugar, bitters and water into a rocks glass, and stir until sugar is nearly dissolved.
- Fill the glass with large ice cubes, add the bourbon, and gently stir to combine.
- Express the oil of an orange peel over the glass, then drop in.
Dry Martini
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 oz Gin
- 1/2 oz Dry vermouth
- 1 dash Orange bitters
- Garnish: Lemon twist
Steps
- Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice and stir until very cold.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
(Carmen adds a dash of salt after straining into the glass.)
Cosmopolitan
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz Citrus vodka
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1 dash Cranberry juice
- Garnish: Lime wheel
Steps
- Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
Salinger's Sling
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Bulleit Bourbon
- 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
- 1/4 ounce demerara syrup*
- 2 dashes coffee bitters
- Orange twist for garnish
Steps
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir quickly with large ice cubes. Strain over a large ice cube in a chilled Old Fashioned glass.
- Twist the orange peel into a spiral (this brings out the essential oils), rub over the rim of the glass, and place on top of the beverage.
- *To make demerara syrup, combine 2 parts cane sugar and 1 part water in a small saucepan. Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month
Hot Toddy
Ingredients
- boiling water, to fill a mug
- 4 cloves
- 1 lemon peel or wheel
- 2 tsp Demerara sugar or brown sugar
- 1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 2 ounces bourbon, rye whiskey, Irish whiskey or scotch
Steps
- Fill a mug with boiling water and let stand for a minute or two to warm.
- Meanwhile, stick the cloves into the lemon peel or wheel and set aside.
- Empty the mug and fill about halfway with fresh boiling water.
- Add the sugar and stir to dissolve.
- Add the prepared lemon peel or wheel and stir.
- Add the lemon juice and whiskey, and stir again.
Mulled Wine
Ingredients
- Red wine
- Brandy
- Cinnamon sticks, cardamom, and star anise
- Water and honey will cover the basics, but apple cider will add pizzazz.
- Lemon and orange slices
Steps
- Pour the wine into a large pot or slow cooker.
- Add WHOLE spices.
- Add apple cider (I’m counting on pizzazz).
- Add citrus.
- Simmer to allow the spices to infuse the wine with their warmth and the other ingredients to marry into a single, delicious drink.
- Add brandy to taste.
Tequila Sunrise
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 oz tequila
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 3/4 oz grenadine Syrup
- Garnish: orange slice
Steps
- In a highball glass filled with ice, pour in the tequila and orange juice.
- Slowly pour the grenadine into the glass over the back of a spoon or by drizzling it down the side of the glass, allowing it to settle at the bottom.
- Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
Sidecar
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 oz Brandy
- 1 oz lemon
- 3/4 oz triple sec
- Garnish: Lemon twist
Steps
- Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake until very cold.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with sugar.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.

French 75
Episode 24
Ingredients
- 2 ounces gin
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- Champagne or sparkling wine
- Garnish: long thin lemon spiral and cocktail cherry
Steps
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Shake gin, lemon juice, and sugar in a cocktail shaker until well chilled, about 15 seconds. Strain into a champagne flute.
- Top with Champagne. Stir gently, garnish with a long, thin lemon spiral and a cocktail cherry.
Pink Gin
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 5 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- Tonic water
Steps
- Add the gin, bitters and lime juice to a tall glass filled with ice.
- Top with tonic water and stir briefly
The Negroni
Ingredients
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce sweet vermouth
- Garnish: orange peel
Steps
- Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled.
- Strain into a rocks glass filled with large ice cubes.
- Garnish with an orange peel.
Manhattan

Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon or rye
- 1 ounce sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- Garnish: brandied cherry
Steps
- Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled.
- Strain into a chilled coupe.
- Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Note: To make the Southern Comfort Manhattan mentioned in E11, substitute Southern Comfort liqueur instead of bourbon or rye whiskey.
Gimlet
Episode 18
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 ounces gin
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- Garnish: lime wheel
Steps
- Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass or an Old Fashioned glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
- (You can substitute 1 oz lime cordial, such as Rose’s lime juice, for both the lime juice and simple syrup.).
Margarita
Ingredients
- 2 lime wedges, for rimming glasses and garnish
- 1/4 c. kosher salt or coarse sea salt, for rimming glass
- 4 oz. tequila
- 2 oz. triple sec
- 1 1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
- Ice
Steps
- Place salt on small shallow plate. Rim two glasses with lime wedge, then dip in salt to coat rim.
- Divide tequila, triple sec, and lime juice between 2 glasses and stir to combine. Top with ice, garnish with lime, and serve.
Pina Colada
Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1 can (15 ounces) cream of coconut
- 1-1/2 cups light rum
- 6 cups crushed ice
- Pineapple wedges
Steps
- In a 2-qt. pitcher, combine pineapple juice, cream of coconut and rum. Refrigerate, covered, until chilled.
- For each serving, add a generous cup of rum mixture and 1 cup ice to a blender. Process, covered, until smooth.
- Pour into a chilled hurricane or highball glass.
- Cut a 1-in. slit into tip of a pineapple wedge; slide wedge over rim of glass.
Crymax
Ingredients
- 1 pint strawberries, washed and stems removed
- 3 Tbsp. pure cane sugar
- 5 oz. Sauvignon Blanc
- 3 oz. club soda
Steps
- Blend strawberries, sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoon of filtered water in a bullet or blender. Reserve 2 ounces purée and store the rest in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Pour wine, soda and purée over ice and serve in a Collins glass.
Unicorn Tears
Ingredients
- 1 oz gin
- ½ oz Chombard
- ½ oz St. Germaine
- ½ oz Peach Schnapps
- Prosecco
- Raspberries (optional garnish)
Steps
- Pour gin, Chombard, St. Germaine, and schnapps into a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously.
- Place a few raspberries into the bottom each two champagne glasses.
- Divide contents of shaker evenly between the glasses, over the raspberries.
- Top off each glass with Prosecco.
- Enjoy!
Bourbon Slush
Ingredients
- 9 cups water, divided
- 3 black tea bags
- 2 cups sugar
- 12 ounces frozen lemonade concentrate
- 6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
- 2 cups bourbon
- 2 liters ginger ale, chilled, for serving
Steps
- In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of the water to a boil. Add the tea bags and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Discard the tea bags. Stir in the sugar until it dissolves.
- In a large container, combine the brewed tea, lemonade and orange juice concentrates, remaining water and bourbon.
- Place the container in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours or preferably overnight until the slush is firm all the way through.
- Scoop the bourbon slush into a tumbler glass, top with ginger ale and serve.
German Grog
Ingredients
- 2 ounces dark rum
- 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 4 ounces hot water
- Slice of orange and a cinnamon stick
Steps
- Mix the rum, lime juice, brown sugar, and hot water in a mug. Garnish with an orange slice and a cinnamon stick.
Suffering Bastard
Episode 10
Ingredients
- 1 oz Bourbon
- 1 oz London dry gin
- 1/2 oz Fresh lime juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Ginger ale, to top
- Garnish: Mint sprig
Steps
- Add the bourbon, gin, lime juice and bitters into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled (about 30 seconds).
- Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice.
- Top with the ginger ale.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.
Long Island Tea
Episode 10
Ingredients
- 3/4 oz Vodka
- 3/4 oz White rum
- 3/4 oz Silver tequila
- 3/4 oz Gin
- 3/4 oz Triple sec
- 3/4 oz Simple syrup
- 3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
- Cola, to top
- Garnish: Lemon wedge
Steps
- Add all ingredients except the cola into a Collins glass with ice.
- Top with a splash of the cola and stir briefly.
- Garnish with a lemon wedge.
- Serve with a straw.
James Bond's Vesper
Ingredients
- 3 measures Gordon’s gin
- 1 measure vodka
- ½ measure Cocchi Americano
Steps
- Shake until ice cold
- Strain into chilled martini glass
- Garnish with large, thin slice of lemon peel
Singapore Sling
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 1 ounce Benedictine
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1/2 ounce cherry liqueur
- 1/4 ounce simple syrup
- Ice cubes
- 2 ounces club soda
- Garnish: lemon slice
- Garnish: maraschino cherry
Steps
- Pour the gin, Benedictine, lime juice, cherry liqueur, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
- Top with club soda.
- Garnish with a lemon slice and cherry.
Gin Fizz
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Gin
- 1 cl fresh lemon juice
- Dash simple syrup
- Splash of soda water
Steps
- Shake all ingredients with ice cubes, except soda water.
- Pour into glass.
- Top with soda water.
