What is your favorite book?
I think it would have to be Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie. Hercule Poilot is one of my favorite characters. I read it once a year.
Who is your favorite author?
I have two: J. R. R. Tolkien and Neil Gaiman. I love to read them both, because I genuinely get lost in the story they tell.
What fictional place would you most like to go to?
It would have to be Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardry. Upon my acceptance letter, I would head to Diagon Alley for all my school supplies. It would be year of moving photos, magical classes and lifelong friends.
What is your favorite word?
cantankerous
What is your favorite drink?
Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!
What is your favorite book?
By far, my favorite book is “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster. A children’s classic, the main character is bored, bored, bored, and a mysterious box is the perfect solution to his ennui. Full of colorful characters, word play, and all things letters and numbers, this is a book that transcends the age of the reader and reminds us all that learning can be fun.
Who is your favorite Author?
Ooooh, this is a tough one. I love Ann Patchett’s ability to find that common thread of humanity in all of our stories. I love Elizabeth Strout’s ability to weave a tapestry of characters, complete with moral dilemma, inherent flaws, and possible redemption. I love Geraldine Brooks’ way of sweeping me wholly and completely into her stories, cocooning my mind in another world for a time. These authors, and so many more, meet needs I didn’t know I had and add plants to the garden of my mind that I never knew I could grow.

What is your favorite word?
I’m not sure I have a favorite word. I love older, sometimes archaic, words, and think we should use them more often, like donnybrook, apoplectic, gobsmacked, and moniker. Instead of language being so utilitarian, I think it should be more embellished and ornamental.
What is your favorite drink?
This one is easy! Since I read “Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk” by Kathleen Rooney, my favorite drink has been the Negroni. The Negroni is a popular Italian cocktail, made of one part gin, one part vermouth rosso (red, semi-sweet), and one part Campari, garnished with orange peel. Yum!
