As Banned Books Week draws to a close, do you know what to do if you experience censorship? The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) works to protect your right to information. They have three active programs:
1. The Youth Free Expression Program empowers youth with knowledge, tools and opportunities to assert and defend their right to free expression.
2. The Arts Advocacy Program is the only national project dedicated to working directly with individual artists and curators involved in censorship disputes.
3. The Kids’ Right to Read Project offers support, education, and direct advocacy to people facing book challenges or bans in schools and libraries and engages local advocates in promoting the freedom to read.
To report via the NCAC, there is a simple form to complete, found here.
You can also go through the American Library Association to report censorship, at the link found here.
